anyone have any problems with this vendor www.bikepartsusa.com?
I bought some stuff 06/19/09 - has not arrived. talked on their online chat support today - they gave me some lame excuse and said they would send another package asap -- IE -- they didn't send the first one. then I asked for UPS at least - they said they would send the UPS tracking number when they get it. IE -- it will be shipped normally (if at all) anyone else have experiences with them? did you get your stuff? |
I haven't had experience with that vendor, but I can tell you that US Postal Service is faster than UPS in cross-border shipments.
When I mail things to friends in TO, it takes just a couple of days. I think UPS moves it across the lake in a rowboat. Same thing coming back. Canada Post is weeks faster than UPS. Postal strikes excluded, of course. |
ha!
well they never sent me a ups tracking number either so I suspect they will use regular mail -- if anything. they already have my money so whats the rush? I ordered some road tires for 2 bikes, quick release skewers and QR seat post clamps. Soon summer will be over and I might as well stick with the mountain tires. |
fwiw next time you want to go mail order i'd suggest sheldon brown's former employer-harris cyclery. very fast shipping and excellent customer service. high volume mail order companies i would be wary of.

ok well heres the summation of this issue....
I contacted them (yet again) had the UPS the package so that I could get a tracking number. they said they would give me a tracking number "when they got it" (you get a number as soon as you register the package for shipping) -- well, they did not provide me with the number but it did arrive soon after (within 3 days) BUT it also arrived with a UPS BROKERAGE BILL FOR ADDITIONAL 37.60! Thats based on a 110.00 purchase! Thats like 37% for brokerage fees alone! If they sent it regular mail originally, I would have got it in 10 days and not had to pay a brokerage fee! worst, part of the order was for quick release wheel skewers. I explained the type of bikes we have and asked them if the QRS would work and they said they would. When they arrived, I took the wheels apart only to find that in fact our axles are not hollow to allow for QRS. |
