Make mine a double

I found this BBC-Online news story:

(you can probably get to it from here)

It tells us that Britons spend several times more on cigarettes and alcohol than on preserving health.

From what I see around me daily, I feel the numbers would be about the same in the US.

OK, just thought you might be interested.

Perhaps no one else will join me in my celebration, as it may be old hat, but I for one am exuberant about having discovered an addiction I can feel good about!

Reminds me of my expedition into the wilds of Afghanistan. We lost our corkscrew and had to survive on food and water for several days.

I will join you! I feel the same way, even though I'm not very diligent about practicing my addiction right now.

It may be old hat, but it's like clichés: there's a reason they're clichés--it's because they're true!

Or the hotel porters comment on finding George Best, drunk on champagne, in bed with Miss World (he slept with three Miss Worlds though not simultaneously)

"George, where did it all go wrong?"

I know what you mean. I can't get enough of Dawson's Creek either.

That is what you meant, right?

Is this a pale imitation of my old home town of Werris Creek or something?
