Brake block

Can anyone recall from the mid-80s those ( Blackburn , I think ) " brake blocks "? they were little, black, stepped wedges you'd put onto the front brake handle. It would lock the front wheel and so allow the bike to stand upright without a kickstand.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

2 possibilities:

1. First, let me tell you that you'll never find one. Every time that I say that, the next poster provides a current wbsite with a photo of the item.

2. On the off chance that doesn't work, try using a rubber band or something similar to hold your brake lever closed. I've seen riders using a velcro glove strap for doing that.

I might have one in the bottom of a container of bike stuff.
Can't remember if I ever used one along with a Flickstand - maybe for fully-loaded touring.

Hah! I use strips of old innertubes for that. I almost always carry 3 or 4 of them with me. Also use them to tie my pant legs and keep them out of the chain. Don't cost me a dime!

also useful for attaching small objects to my rack, etc (Or bigger objects... tied a couple of tires to the side of my rack with them the other day to bring home for my wife's bike.
