Imagine that, another first time poster posting all 3 of his first posts in a BD thread.
I'm calling total BS on this entire post based on the fact that UPS doesn't charge $140 to ship a bike anywhere in the continental US. Packed in the largest bike box I have ever seen, the most I have ever paid is $68.

Hey dude, I just posted my own experience with BD; that's all. It just happens to have been a very positive one..... and I have no reservation in saying that.

The $140 (actually $139) came from the UPS website where I entered the dimensions of the box and origination/destination of Detroit - Dallas....check it yourself.

Interesting....that's not what I got when I checked the cost on the UPS site!!
Anyway, is that what you cared about - the shipping cost? It wasn't my priority issue.
To me, the important thing was the quality of BD's service in handling my purchase/exchange.......which I will repeat again - was EXCELLENT.
If you have a different experience with them, it is what it is. My own experience with them has been top notch

I have the same bike. Added some fenders, swapped out the saddle, put a rack on it and some slicks. It's been my daily commuter for 2 years. I commute year round, so this thing has seen snow, salt, sand, you name it. When I bought it, I had my LBS build it, certainly worth the $50 he charged me. Last time I was in the shop, he was commenting on how much bike I got for my money and how much of a beating it's taken. The best part is, I've built a relationship with my LBS and he's currently working on my old Raleigh, I bought my Surly Pacer from him and I've ordered my Surly LHT from him. But for now, this is my go to bike for going to work. $600, can't be beat!
