Recommendation Wanted
I'm looking to buy a bike, used or new, for upto $200 that is good just to tool around town in.
I'm a student and I use public transportation but I would prefer to have a bike for the summer so I can get around with more freedom.
Any suggestions on what I should be looking for?

Maybe a used steel mountain bike from the late 80's early 90's or same year road bike. Look through your local craigslist. You should find something like this. On the moutain bike, change out the knobbies for some slick road tires such as the Ritchie Tom slicks. Don't shy away from ugly bikes. Look for good functioning bikes but one's that may be overlooked while locked up on campus or around town.

However, I would deliberately look for an ugly bike.
