I hope I'm posting this in the right section. I'm still fumbling around a bit. I can't believe how much great information is here!!

I have a Topeak Road Morph pump, and the only places it fits are on top of the downtube (not giving up my primary bottle cage!) and on the bottom of the downtube. It doesn't fit on the seat tube, and I'm not putting in on the top tube because it's always in the way.

I heard that if I put it on the bottom of the downtube, the pump will ingest everything from sand to small rodents, and then one day I'll have a flat and get stranded 500 miles from nowhere in the middle of a blizzard, and then will promptly die of embarrassment when I realize my pump no longer works.

Normally I wouldn't care because most of the pumps I've owned are useless for inflating an actual tire, but I'm REALLY REALLY liking the Road Morph, and at $40 a pop it's too expensive to do a lifetime buy of 20 of them.

Has anyone mounted a pump like this and lived to tell the tale? I'll assume if no one responds it's because they're all dead now and it's a really bad idea.

Try calling the Topeak folks. I believe it's actually Todson or something like that. There is a pump mount that will fit between the downtube and the bottle cage. I've got one, and it works. Pump installs immediately adjacent to the bottle cage.

how does this mount anyway? is it a frame fit? or did it come with a mount of some type. how would you mount it on the underside of the DT and keep it off the front tire?

I agree with doc J there should be a mount you can use that bolts between the frame and cage and the pump sticks out to the side slightly

On my cross bikes I have water bottle mounts under the down tube. This is where I mount my road morphs and on one bike I've had it mounted there for 4 years now and it's worked each time I've needed it. I take this bike down dirt roads, trails and the occasional muddy stretches and have yet to have a problem. Great product.

OK, I looked back through my bike log book (3 x 5 spiral notebook).

Todson (800) 213-4561. Topeak Part No. TPD-2C $4.95. The part is a bracket that was designed originally for the Master Blaster DX, but it fits the Road Morph. I'm not sure if they still have these, but the call is free. The bracket fits between the bottle cage and the downtown. The pump mounts adjacent to the bottle cage.

Mine's on the bottom of the downtube. I just wipe it off when I'm lubing the chain an inspecting everything, no big deal.

Depends on the bike. Suppose it were bike that goes for 5 grand or more and one thing is that its very aerodynamic with the tube shapes. The road morph on it would just ruin the benefits as well as the looks.

That's why I don't attach it on my bike but rather resort to either cartridges or use my lumbar bag that can handle the morph.

Cut a short section out of an old tube and pull it over the chuck (the "head") on the pump to keep out the crud. i rode for years that way on my mountain bike with the pump mounted head down behind the seat tube. To pump, just slide the tube up the barrel.

re: what kind of bike.
It's a 520, my first "real" touring/commuter bike. The morph series of pumps are just very awkward to mount but so far I'm very happy having it mounted under the frame.
