I saw some back in the 70s, maybe early 80s. They were/are a sporting goods conglomerate. Had bicycles, bowling gear, and for a while I believe Harley Davidson. Bikes didn't have a good reputation.

LOL 40lb roflemawaffle i just got a amf roadbike i just did head and crank overhaul regreased the bearings she is as smooth as can be

You see AMF Roadmasters in the Little 500 race in Breaking Away. Which isn't to say that they were high quality bikes.
