what bike for me?

I am in need of a new bike, but I can't find something good for me.

-ride to school quickly and easily daily (most days)

-have a little bike path/off road capability, but not sacrafice weight or ease of riding/speed

-be under $400 preferably, (enough for a YOUNG teen with lots of room to spare)

I would LOVE to get the allegro 1x (link) but is a bit out of the price range. If someone could let me know about a similar bike that would be awesome.

thanks everyone

go to your local bike shop, see what they have, see what you like, and take it from there.

The Trek 4300 or any of the 4xxx series are dirt reliable rides. The Giant Boulders may even be more reliable, but are a bit heavy.
