Are Wallbikes Brooks saddles really brand new?

If I buy a saddle from Wallbikes, is it a brand new saddle fresh out of the box or some saddle that was returned after someone else used it for 6 months. A saddle thats been returned after 6 months already has started to conform to someone else's butt. They probably used proofide with it. To me this is a used saddle. What does Walbikes do with the returned saddles?

Why not ask them instead of us?

They're a very highly rated dealer for Brooks. I'm sure you'd have seen lots of posts if they were foisting pre-used stuff on people. I wasn't trying to be snarky by saying ask them, but it's simply the best way to get a definitive answer. I've *never* seen a derogatory post about them.

I have seen Wallbike sell Brooks on Ebay. They are quite clear in the description that the saddle being auctioned
is a "used, returned item". Wallbike is a safe, honest & helpfull place to do business with, IMHO.

+1. What they say is new, is new. Their returns go on EBay. I don't think they have returns on those EBay saddles though.

I have seen them selling those used saddles on ebay as well. They charge slightly more for Brooks than other retailers and Brooks themselves. This coupled with selling the used saddles probably means they are able to recoup the costs of the generous guarantee. I assume that because of the greatly increased traffic to the site because of this plan, it is worth the added hassle for them.

Wallbike sells NEW Brooks saddles, if they sell a used saddle they will tell you it is used. I know of no other Brooks dealer that has their use and return policy. All of the saddles I have bought from Wallbikes have been brand new, and I have bought several.

Just confirming what everyone else said. New price is new saddle. Returns are now sold on ebay.

1. You could tell if the Brooks saddle was used by the sitbone dents in the saddle.

2. If the saddle was used it is not necessarily a bad thing because used saddles can be easier to break in than new ones.

3. If the saddle has no dents, no wrinkles, no slightly worn patches where the sitbones go ... who cares if someone else sat on it a few times before you got it.

4. I would imagine that if Wallingford Bicycles advertises saddles as new, they are indeed new. I had very good customer service with them when I bought my first saddle. Bill answered all my questions.

I just got one from Wallbike last week -- brand new, no issues.

It came with a lot of paperwork about the warranty -- honestly I'm pretty impressed with the company.

Bill posted in a different forum, probably the Boblist, that he puts the returned saddles on Ebay as auctions, not BINs. You'll see them sometimes, he shows the box in the photo.

I've bought a few Brooks saddles from Wallbike. No issues at all. I'll buy my next one from them also.
