Wrong time of year?

Did I pick the wrong time of year to sell one of my bikes and my CycleOps trainer?
I posted both on CL and a local bike club's classified listing but no one has replied. Is everyone broke after Christmas? Some other reason?

Yep, I think so. Nobody looking for bikes at this time of year really. I'd hold it and try again in about 2-3 months. Surprised the trainer isn't selling though.

Is it possible your asking price is a bit too high? And, yes I'd guess that most of us are penniless after the holidays.

I've been wondering about this myself, there are some stupid deals on craigslist that have just been sitting for weeks...

I think after xmas is the wrong time. I just got a trainer a few weeks before xmas as my xmas present. A lot of cyclists give lists to their spouses that get filled before xmas.

Also for bike sales the prices are better at lbs during the winter and you have more competition.

Here's a shocker. I just sold my trainer and the buyer paid the asking price. People usually try to talk you down on the price.

The post winter "Must get fit" ideas are not floating around in peoples heads right now. Wait for some fine weather and people to start realising how much weight they need to lose and the bike will go.
