Hokey Spokes

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in Advocacy and Safety. One of the local radio stations was talking about them.

Have you seen these before? Are they worth trying? Too much extra weight? Too much money?
Just thought I'd pass it on.

BTW: You can read all about them here.

I saw this on fark yesterday. It would make you visible, but judging by the fark comments, it would probably just make you a target for harassment. And somebody pointed out that they weigh about 12.5 oz each. So that's some pretty significant wieght to start adding to the wheels.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

I think that for commuting they would be really
useful. Lots of visibility would make commuting
safer.
That and add some baseball cards to the spokes
and you'd really have something

Ha ha. You should see some of the bike setups that some of the "no-helmet commuters" here in Atlanta ride.

A cheaper and lighter alternative is to put reflector tape on your tube stem and on the inside of the rim.

I haven't tried it, but you could probably put pieces of reflector tape on the spokes too.

Hey, this is a lot neater than I originally thought. After checking the website, I noticed all the cool graphics that can be produced.

Joe's idea to make it programmable for messages is really keen.

Maybe bicyclists could sell advertising on their bikes.
