should i replace my helmet?
Hi, everyone.
I am just wondering. My helmet no longer holds my strap holding pin in the hole.
As seen in the picture, the part where it used hold strap is cracked.
I can still use my helmet, but want to know if this is not going to be safe?

In general, if you need to ask, you should replace the helmet. If the helmet is visibly damaged, you should definitely replace it.

New helmet. If the straps can't hold your helmet on you head what good is it??

"When in doubt, swap it out" is what we used to say in the Navy; which is maybe one reason the military is so expensive. But seriously everyone is correct that it should probably be replaced, those straps hold it to your head in the event of a collision.

Just curious. How old is the helmet? I replace mine every 3 years whether it needs it of not.

You should replace your helmet:
• Any time there is visible wear to any part except the inner pads.
• After any crash where the helmet may have impacted something. (even if it looks completely undamaged)
• After any time the helmet is dropped from bellybutton height or higher as the force of it hitting the ground can weaken it.
• Or every 4-5 years even if you've never crashed or dropped it and it doesn't look worn out.
