Sales Advice

I recently acquired a 2007-08 serotta ottrott from a friend. It is a custom model and rides like a dream, not to mention it is in excellent condition, h have rode less than a 1000 miles on it, and the previous owner did not rider it at all.

I am a collegiate racer and feel that i am babying it too much in crits, and am looking for a more agressive bike for this race season. My friends say that i can sell the bike for enough money to get a new bike that would better suite my needs.

what kind of prices should i ask for a bike like this?

I know a current serotta ottrott frame would run someone around $7000.00....

On average, a used bike is not worth as much as the owner thinks, but more than the buyer thinks

Google and ebay are your friends. Watch the auctions for a while and you'll get a reasonable range. Right now there is a '08 model full campagnolo drivetrain with a $4k buy now.

You may also consider a trade-down; somebody may be willing to do a trade plus cash.

Take your bike to some local bike shops and see if they will make you a trade.

Listen to him, you could end up getting a great deal this way. Maybe a less expensive bike, but with some more accessories? or cash, like he said? Maybe place an ad, stating you're willing to listen to reasonable trade offers?
