Why so pricey Salsa?
It seems like Salsa's bikes command a significantly higher price overall than comparable brands. Their frames run about $100-$150 more than similar Surly, Redline, and Kona frames. The complete bikes also tend to have lower drivetrain specs than similar bikes of other brands. It seems especially odd that the Vaya, with an MSRP would have Avid BB5's instead of the only slightly more expensive BB7's.
After seeing Salsa bikes in person (though never able to ride one, as no one seems to carry my size), I believe that there's a fair reason for their higher cost, but I can't figure it out. They're beautiful bikes, but where specifically does their value come from?

Dunno about their bikes, beebe, but if you want an easily adjusted seat post, the Salsa is to die for. Anyway, some of their frames of scandium alloy. It allows higher alloy aluminum to be welded.
