Bicycles & Parades

On July 4th, there are next to no Independence Day events. So I return to the town I last lived in where there are some.

I used to live in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, a small town located on a chain of lakes. I still have family who live there. Although its population was 5000 in winter, it doubles in summer when people from out of state come to spend the summer on property they own or in summer dewllings they rent. Every year, Belgrade holds a homespun Independence Day parade which anyone can be in. During one of the years that I lived there as a resident, the parade marshall asked if I wished to participate in it as she knew me to be an accomplished bicyclist. There never had been any bicyclists in the parade before, so I was the first. The next year, I whistled up members of the bicycle club I belong to. This way, dressed in full kit in club uniform, we were more of an organized unit.

I will continue to lead the bicycle unit, club members and non-members alike this year. Do any of you have any plans on participating in parades or parade units such as this?
Please discuss.
