Scored my first jersey on ebay for 15 bones (before shipping). Even though I was riding 200 miles a week, I didn't have a proper jersey, and was stuck wearing moisture wicking t shirts from my cross country running days. I am now much more comfortable, and look less fredly (albeit only slightly).

$8 Spokelit

I have 4 of them, 2 on each wheel, so I'm into them for $32. But I bought 'em one at a time, so it still counts.

Performance Bikes closeout on the Josh Cohen E3 form gel saddles.
God, how I wish I'd bought a half dozen!

KoolStop brake pads for cantis - still going strong after two summers and two winters.

Knog beetle lights - great marker lights front and back. I run them in pairs. If I need to see where I'm going because of unlit streets ( 2%of the time) I turn on a helmet light as well.

ECWCS Parka - $8 from Goodwill. I think it is an excellent jacket for cold weather riding, I even tracked down the matching trousers to use with it next winter.

If I count stuff I don't have anymore, then Velo Webspring Saddle. $1 at a garage sale, and easily one of the best saddles I have used so far. Unfortunately I did not take it off a bike when I sold it. I think I'll have to order another.

Being old enough to have worn out pairs of woollen cycling shorts, it's hard not to vote lycra bibs. Even $20 pairs were better than wet woollies:-)

My first Brooks- a used Pro- cost £2. Can't ride far, or fast, in pain.

A $20 Nashbar pump that replaced the Silca that I had cussed for years. I used that cheap pump for 15 years and finally gave it to my son-in-law. I never once had a problem with it and never had to replace any parts. I was constantly having to replace parts on the Silca.

I second the bell...the kind that you ding, not churn. When I get bored on backroads, I ding my bell while looking for that tree that fell in the forest no one heard. Of course, comes in handy to warn the jogger up ahead too. Sometimes, not often, I even get to pass another cyclist and the bell is better than hollerin' at 'em.
