Eye sight preservation
I haven't had my eye sight prescription changed but once in 15 years (knock wood). I often wonder if bike riding keeps the eye sight from fading. One its the total opposite of working at a computer station where your gaze is fixed a few feet from you. You are constantly looking several feet in front of you and the eyes are never fixed in one spot. This has to be good!!!

Your eyes are very busy doing a number of things -- multi tasking as it were. This good exercise for the eyes. In daylight my eysight is good enough to dispense with my prescription lenses. So I can wear all colors of wrap around lenses that claim to be UV-400. This includes a clear, uncolored lenses. Polycarbonate plastic itself apparently cuts the UV wave length, but coating improves performance. Anyway, using a UV-400 or better rated lens will help you to avoid cataracts -- a change in the proteins on the surface of the eye.

I seriously doubt it, having said that, all exercise is a plus for most issues. I wear glasses, and have changed prescriptions on a couple of times during the past 10 years.

Eye doctor here:
Based on 20+ years of observation I can definitively tell you......whatever happens, happens. I've seen no correlation between anything and changing Rx (other than diabetes).
Others that continually read "case studies" may tell you different
But in general the more "near work"(looking at things close up) a person does the more nearsighted they TEND to be. Third-world countries tend to have lots of farsighted people and industrial nations tend to have more nearsighted people.
The riding may have nothing to do with your Rx but looking far off (further than 20 ft away) may.

Aging makes reading glasses necessary ..
