So I'm cruising through a town during a lazy 200km trip. I try to keep most of it to the countryside but with long distances, the occasional town can't be helped.
There I am, pretty much keeping speed with traffic. There is a lady on a car, on a parking spot on the opposite side of the road. She looks at me, I look at her, and then I realize that she is not looking 'at' me, she is looking 'through' me (damn invisibility powers keep going off at the worse possible time). So she guns it to what it seems to get into traffic on my lane, I'm thinking 'fine lady, you are bigger than me I'll move'. The thing is she isn't just trying to get into traffic, she is trying to get on a parking spot on my side of the road that is ahead of me. She is not directly aiming for me (so she is not seeing me) but about to cut me off while I'm doing close to 20mph. She forces me to jump into the sidewalk (which here doubles as a slow bike lane) into the loving arms (actually rear end) of a minivan that is backing out of his parking spot. Fortunately my invisibility powers shut off again because this guy saw me, as evident by the expression of horror as I went out of his view and into the back of his moving van.
I guess all's well that ends well. He braked hard, I actually leaned towards the van with my shoulder to protect the bike and to stop from being thrown back into the road into probably yet another car. I heard a crack that could have been the van's plastic rear light cover but at that point I just kept on going. Yelling at each other for five minutes wasn't going to fix anything.
