Anyone use this light???

Sunlite HL-L180 LED Front Bike Light - 2010 Closeout
BLACK

Sunlite HL-L180 LED

Looking to purchase some descent to good lighting (Budgetary constraints demand such)
and am looking to see if someone has used this light system. Thanks in advance.

I haven't used one of these, but I do have several 1 Watt LED flashlights. They are pretty good around the house, but might not be bright enough for the road.

Bikes: Giant Excursion, Raleigh Sports, Raleigh R.S.W. Compact, Motobecane? and about 20 more! OMG

Watts have less to do with brightness than the optics and grade of LED. FWIW I run Busch and Muller dyno lights (they aren't cheap) and they put more light down the road with a 1 watt LED than many car head lights.

To the OP...I have not used that particular light, but for about the same amount of money you could get a Planet Bike Blaze 2watt and they show you what the beam pattern looks like.

1 watt is fine to be seen but not to see with. On the road you need at least 3w and off road 5w.

But it is not only the wattage of the bulb- there is the light pattern aswell. This is why I prefer 2 bulbs and I have a USE Exposure Enduro with twin 5w leds. For road use it is probably over the top but I use it on low power on most road riding. However- offroad and fast speed has taught me you can only ride within the limits of the lamp.

Look a bit further and you may be able to find some of the "Old" Halogen lamps that have up to 10w bulbs. Old hat now with modern technology so they are going cheap but a Halogen bulb gives a good clear light that is easier to see by. But the 5 or 3w rule still applies.
