Bikes: Kona Hahanna, Schwinn Speedster

I had a squirrel run into my tire on my way to work today. Thankfully neither squirrel nor I was damaged.

Bikes: Jamis 2008 Komodo, 40's Malvern Star 16" my 1st! , 58 Malvern Star 28", (gave it to the LBS for display), Voodoo Wanga SS, Voodoo Bokor commuter, Wilier Triestina Lavaredo, Kojima Condor 80's resto roadie.

Emu. Not the brightest creatures, this one ran out of the scrub tripped over its own feet and threw itself to the ground in front of me. It then jumped up and shot through leaving its delicious baby emu chicks milling all around me looking trusting and hopeful. I just about wet myself laughing, niether I or my mate crashed though.

I've had some close calls with squirrels, but never an actual impact. Does anyone know how an aluminum fork would hold up to a squirrel? I have a Cannondale Silkpath 500.

Why wouldn't it? It's not like a boulder came rolling down a mountain and struck your front wheel!! Every squirrel I hit (about 3 maybe 4) just shook the bike and the squirrel kind of bounced off and ran back from where it came. I don't think I've ever killed one.

I've also ran over rattle snakes sunning themselves on mountain roads at high speed. They don't have time to strike because your coming to fast. Not sure if they die from that or not because I figured I pissed them off I'm not going back to check their condition. I'm kind of mean with those guys, if their stretched out I use to run them over on purpose, but not if their coiled the coiled shape could make the bike unstable. Sometimes I hit them because I had no choice.

A well-known cyclist in Traverse City (not far form the OP) was paralyzed when he hit a deer. I've had them hiss and spit at me when I was riding a mountain bike.

Aaron, as a southerner you should know that squirrels are good eating too.

Bikes: Surly Long Haul Trucker w/ SRAM Rival, & 36H 38's, Late 70's Santana Tandem w/ Double Diamond frame

So far I've got 1 deer, 1 dog, and 1 turtle. The dog was a hard fall. The deer I just glanced off and layed down in grass. The turtle was at night and I was fortunate enough to not go down.

One of the funniest things I've seen is honking my air horn at a squirrel and having it launch itself head first into a guard rail. *BONK*

Bikes: Heavily modded Cannondale Hooligan 1 (2009) and an upgraded Raleigh Max Zero-G

Reminds me of a story I once read Here << Clicky

But this was no ordinary squirrel. This was not even an ordinary pissed-off squirrel.

This was an evil attack squirrel of death!
