Fire and Ice!
Crazy weather in the midwest this week.
Some of the other Bicycle.Com folks have exclaimed about the shockingly powerful winds we have been experiencing lately. You know those huge USA flags at Perkins resturaunts? Those HUGE flags are standing straight out and trembling in the wind like a, like a, like a.... well really trembling - a LOT!
Last week it was freezing. On my way home this week, I bicycled past a huge melting snowpile. The air temperature was 90 degrees F (32 C)!
Man! No wonder out roads are in such rough shape.

I hear ya Mike --- I will be passing one of those Perkins flags on the way home tonight from work. BLustery out there today!
Saw a guy biking last night with a kid carrier in the back. He was spinning fast heading into the wind but moving like a snail. Tough workout riding in the winds.
Won't be til summer that they die down 'round here.

Ya'll coulda kept your wind!
Now we've got it here in MO too. Record high temps, (upper 80's) but very windy. And storms on their way. Springtime in MO. Pretty typical though.

For those of you who think Montreal is cold all the time- the temp today peaked at 28C or 84f- I am sure it's a record. I actually remember a very hot few days in April, I was about 12 years old and it was during easter/passover holiday.
Needless to say, we went out on a huge ride today- 75k. On our way home, the cycle traffic increased as everyone took to the road in DROVES!
It's supposed to cool down by the end of the week, frankly I don't mind.

Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa
Its warmer in Upstate NY and Cananda than it
is down here in Texas!
Strange days have found us indeed!
we usually have wind 10 - 20 mph.
Last nights storms spawned a few tornados
and we're looking at a week of turbulent weather
I'll avoid the SRV quotes and just say
this is some weird sh*t.

This is the third straight day of powerful wind. It is almost always windy here, but this is exceptional.
I can't help but think of all the potential electricity that could be generated by this wind.
Our local power company is just starting to use wind generation to suppliment our coal powered electrical plant. I heard that the limited wind generators we have now supply 9 megawatts of power to 4,000 homes.
I'd like to put a wind powered generator in my yard! To say the least, the ground wire would make the worms come out of the ground - goooooood for fishin'!

Hi Mike..yeah, what is with the wind? I've been told that wind, big winds that is, are typical in Wisconsin in the Spring. I'm from the Northeast originally. So it may look gorgeous outside, but to ride in this is tough on the legs.
