Drill my front shocks ???
Im trying to install fenders/mudguards on a 26" mtb with front shocks. There is no holes in the fork and the only place i can see to attach it is to the "cross member" or whatever it may be called on the shock. There seems to be a pilot hole on the rear of this but Im not sure if it would be safe to drill. Does this support the fork much, is it safe to drill ? Has anyone done this before of know of any manufacturers giving the green light to do this ??

Do not drill your fork lowers, especially not the brace. Figure out a zip-tie solution for your fenders.
The brace takes a lot of stress while helping to keep your two fork legs in line with each other. No way would I even consider drilling a hole there.
Don't drill lower down either, because forks often have oil in their legs for the damping mechanism. Plus, you would introducing weakness into a critical part.

There is a Fender for the front of an MTB that attaches to the fork. Can't show you a good picture but it attaches into the Fork Steerer via an expanding nut or Star nut.

This type of fender works as it follows the line of the wheel and stops muck and stones coming over the top of the wheel and into the face. Used this for 8 years now and can't tell you the name- make or model.

Thank you both very much for your replies. I wont be drilling my fork and I will be bringing the mudguards back to the store as when my wife picked them up for me she showed the guy in the store a picture of the fork/brake set up and he said these would work....they dont !!! You think they would know. Anyway Stapfam Im going to search around for one with one of those expanding nuts, that sounds like the proper way to do it alright.
