Hah, once I got to college, I shaved my entire body, except for the eyebrows. You can really see your muscle definition that way.

Yes, shaving greatly reduces road rash and the nasty yellow pus infection that forms afterwords. When I first started cycling, I wiped out on an empty beach path that had too much sand. Oh god the pain of having the skin on my leg torn off. Ever hear how painful waxing can be, especially if you are hairy? This is the same concept. When I shaved and then wiped out on the same beach path, it was only superficial scrapes.

Yes, shave it all. Just take a look at porn stars for an idea. You'd look really goofy in front of a woman with only 3/4 of your legs shaved while the other 1/4 and above is a forest.

Yes, shaving does keep you cooler if you have hairy legs.

Yes, sitting on a plastic seat shifting from side to side for several hours at a time does in fact pull on your butt hair.

No, I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks when I shave my legs.

One could ask the same about shaving faces - it's part of the cultural norm. I, personally, don't shave my legs (nor do I race), but I do shave the area where my legs join my hips. Why? Because having hair there creates more friction during pedaling! Friction is the pits (no pun intended) when you want to avoid irritation.

I'm sorry, but did someone say on page 5 that his mom told him he didn't need to shave, guys look sexy with hairy legs? That's a little TMI to hear from your mom.

OK I am totally confused... if it's manly to put up with the pain of ripping out your hairs along with your bandage, wouldn't it be more manly to put up with the pain of ripping out all your hair? So you can wax... But wait, women do that all the time.

Women are more manly than men?

I can't handle this! Where's my Manly pantyhose... after all, George Washington wore 'em, so can I. And remember, that was NOT a pantyhose fetish site .

Much entertainment in this thread!
If you do shave your legs, best shave again prior to your next massage. Muscles are "worked" towards the heart, and if you notice, your leg hair grows downward, or away from your heart. Your masseuse won't appreciate going "against the grain", and neither will your folical's. Can you say ingrown hair?
No, I haven't shaved, but the road rash arguement gives me pause.....
Cheers,
Kevin

10 minutes of my life wasted, but weight lost. I just read an article that claimed that if you laugh everyday for a year you would lose 4.4 pounds. I just lost it all in the last 10 minutes.

Sticking to the topic, zonie is right. Shaving prevents the hairs from being pulled during a massage. Road rash is the second reason.

Seriously, do you actually think that Lance shaves so that the rest of the peloton thinks he is cool. There must be a valid reason or two to depilitate.
