International shipping rates?

Does anyone have advice on how to ship a bike to the UK for a decent price?
I made the usual web sites rate searches and came up with nothing acceptable from UPS, FeDex, USPS.

If you are flying to the same place as your bike, you might want to check out if your airline could accept it as checked baggage. I have heard that some will take it, but I only know about domestic (not international).

Thanks caphits, but I am not going there. I need to ship the bike only.

Ship via USPS in two boxes, each box equal to or less than 108 inches length plus girth as defined by USPS. Frame etc in one box, wheels etc in in two separate boxes taped together to make "one box". Each box might cost you in the vicinity of 70 dollars.

In my experience, any other carrier or method will cost you several hundred dollars from the USA to any country not on the American continent. I would love to hear that my previous sentence is false, and be informed of a vastly cheaper way to do so that does not involve traveling with the package, but I never have.

That would do just fine - I will have to check that out with the USPS, thanks!
