The Craiglist scam topic.
Post your favorite scams.
I highly doubt this bike cost $500 at any point in time.

Touring Bike - $280
Men's Touring Bike in NEW condition. Haro del Sol. Bike has premium Shimano brakes and 24-speed gears. New tires and upgraded gel seat. Original cost of bike was about $500 ~ I'm listing it for $280.00. You will be getting a bike that is well maintained and in excellent condition. If you have any questions, please call XXX-XXX-XXXX

Well CL does say go see stuff in person.. caveat emptor..
might be bubbling the 1st number up so selling it for what they paid seems cheaper .

Both Ebay and Craigslist are booby-trapped with the occasional scam.

I think common sense rule out a lot of things on CL if it's a scam or not. eBay you've got a pretty big safety net now as a buyer. If it flys and quacks like a duck, then it probably is.

I'm noticing the absurd MSRP scam. One ad around here claimed his Univega MTB cost him $1,400 "a few years ago" Checked Bikepedia, the model was only made in 1996 with an MSRP of $498.00. The ad the OP posted is so full of errors as to be scary. Leave it alone!

Oh I had no intention of buying it. I was just looking one night for boredom relief and saw the add and thought you all would get a kick out of it and we could all share some similar ads.
