How Many Miles a Month Do You Ride ?

I love cycling but I know I ride few miles every month compared to most cyclists. I am riding about 130 miles a month. I am guessing thats lower than almost everyone on this board ?

I measure in hours. Only 6-8 hours a week right now.

why does it matter? and yes, 130 miles/month on a road bike is little.

I'm doing the National Bike Challenge, so I've been keeping close track the last few weeks. I'm on track to do about 800 this month...mostly commuting miles, but I usually do at least one long (60-80 miles) ride on the weekends as well.

my daily commute is 30 miles round trip, so if i figure 20 work days that i ride in a month, that's 600 miles right there. other mileage on the weekends is just gravy.

I ride kilometres ...

Some months, like this one, I hardly ride at all. It's late autumn, it's dark when I get home from work, and it's been quite chilly so I'm taking a break after all the summer riding.

Some months, I ride 1000 km. I like to do that at least one month a year. During the summer, if I don't ride 1000 km in a month, it'll be close to it (850 km, 900 km, etc.)

But my distance riding has really backed off from what I was doing between 2001 and 2005. In that time period, 1600 km months weren't unusual.

Over the past 18 months, Rowan and I have been doing a Century-A-Month challenge where we do at least one 160+ km ride each month. I did the same thing each month in 2003, 2005, and 2006, and completed 11 months 2008. If you did that, right there you get 100 miles in a month ... you could just about double your current distance.

I ride about 300 miles a month. But unlike many of the others on this forum I don't commute to work. During school I do commute to school but its only 9miles r/t once a week. So nearly all my miles come from pleasure/exercise rides.

Normally 400+ unless I have something unusual come up like this month where I have time off the bike.
