displaced hip fracture
I started becoming a runner last december.....as with everything I do, I tend to overdo it
I ramped my milage from never being a runner to running 60-70 miles a week....which then caused me to develop a stress fracture of my left hip... before the MRI was looked and and the stress fracture diagnosed I fell and broke it
well 4 6 inch titanium screws later and 7 weeks of recovering....I am still 5 weeks from being allowed to "put walking pressure" on it
I am wondering....I have a computrainer. that I am considering pulling the left crank arm off the bike and riding one legged.... anyone see a problem with this????

Probably a waste of time since you won't get much of an aerobic workout pedaling with one leg and I would think just the effort of trying to put high effort into the good leg/hip socket would add stress to the other side.

you need to ASK YOUR DOCTOR.
Cycling is non-weight bearing, and stationary cycling is often recommended as an appropriate rehab activity after hip pinning or replacement. But it's not going to be recommended to you over the internet.
check with the people reading your Xrays.

getting on and off shouldn't be a problem
I can bend it perfectly well, and with the bike locked into the trainer. I can slide over from the back
it feels fine as I am two months since my surgery
I actually rode 13 miles in support of my wife during a half marathon, with the stress fracture the day before I fell and finished breaking it, and man it feels so much better then it did that day
I am just going stir crazy.and want to start getting my fitness back

Years ago, when BMX racing was new, I did a magazine story about a 12-year-old amputee who was racing with one leg. He used a toe clip and was a mid pack finisher. But you'll have a leg hanging off there to get caught on stuff and to fall on, which complicates things. It can be done, but there's some risk.

My son, a Cat 2, fractured his femur in a Crit crash a few weeks ago. His fracture wasn't displaced and he has a rod the length of the bone, but no plates. I think he's going to get on the trainer this week. He isn't putting much weight on the leg, but I can see from his mobility that he won't have any problem pedaling easily on the trainer. I don't believe he's going for any sort of aerobic workout, basically just to keep the muscles moving.

Does not sound to me like you need to be stressing your body right now. But above all you should be asking these questions to a medical professional directly involved in your case, or at least a certified physiotherapist, not yahoos like us on a message board.

I started spinning 1 week before my 12 week post op visit
I told my doctor I was riding the trainer and hugely favoring one side
His exact words were..."stop favoring one side,no need....and hammer as much as I want " ON THE TRAINER
thank god for my computrainer with 3d software
I have been released to "light weights high reps" at the gym.. "walking as much as I can tolerate(2 miles walking and 12 on the trainer,on the first day)
