Nashbar Sucks

I ordered something from their website with "ground shipping" the only other options were 2 day fedex or overnight fedex....so anyways, I check my status today 2/7 and it was shipped 2/1 ..... I still have yet to receive my package. I call their cust serv and they say "well we don't have a tracking number" First experience is turning into a bad one. I am not happy.

Daily Commute 02-07-05 03:55 PM

Ground shipping just takes time, sometimes a week or two. They give us the option to pay a little more for 2-day shipping. I've learned the hard way to take it. I recently ordered from Nashbar. I paid an extra $2.80 for 2-day service. I ordered around 1 p.m. I had the stuff 22 hours later.

DXchulo 02-07-05 03:55 PM

Interesting. I love Nashbar. I have tons of good experiences with them.

PWRDbyTRD 02-07-05 03:55 PM

That's misleading...and total crap...UPS Ground is tops 4 days from their location....tracking # would be nice

Daily Commute 02-07-05 04:01 PM

My earlier Nashbar standard service was parcel post, not UPS ground. Parcel post takes forever. If you need something within two weeks, you shouldn't use standard delivery. Either upgrade to 2-day service, go to the LBS, or wait (and wait and wait). I have nothing to complain about Nashbar's service.

ch0mb0 02-07-05 04:07 PM

Haven't had a problem with them yet. (knocks on head)

wannaride 02-07-05 04:18 PM

In my experience they are very reliable but not terribly fast if you ship by ground. The lack of tracking information is also frustrating.

PWRDbyTRD 02-07-05 04:55 PM

I think I'll be staying away from them...Jenson and Performance have served me better. Talk about some shotty shipping.

hillyman 02-07-05 04:56 PM

Unless it was on backorder, I have received my orders from Nashbar in less than a week. Performance usually in 2 weeks. For their prices, I'm not complaining.

Paul L. 02-07-05 05:04 PM

I have had good and bad experiences with both Performance and Nashbar. Most recent Nashbar order came in a week.

PWRDbyTRD 02-07-05 05:14 PM

It's all part of the game of online ordering....some bad apples have to fall w/ the good ones.

Portis 02-07-05 05:14 PM

I have ordered waaaaaaaay too much from Performance, Nashbar and Jenson. I can safely say that my experience has been that Nashbar is far better. I love Nashbar and try to order from them if i can as opposed to the others.

The main reason i like them is that they are usually the fastest to get a product in my hands. (fast shipping)

phantomcow2 02-07-05 05:16 PM

I like nashbar, i know once they sent the wrong length spokes so they took them back no questions asked and even payed for shipping both ways.

dfchatten 02-07-05 05:22 PM

I have not had any issues with Nashbar or Performance in 3 years of ordering. The only single issue that I had was an order that stated "in stock" and it was not. They did ship the remaining components of the order, and the out of stock item came a few weeks later. I normally pay the extra $'s of I need something ASAP, and if you time it right, you can apply a coupon and off set the additional shipping.

Something to consider - My LBS will match their prices! All you have to do is bring in the printed item, show that it is "in stock" and if my LBS has it then they match Nasbar or Performance no questions asked. I'm sure not all LBS's do that, but check w/your local LBS.

I have had very good and quick service from http//:www.pricepoint.com .. Stuff always arrives packed very well, low priced and they always throw in a few stickers..

:D

This is actually quite funny. Performance and Nashbar are owned by the same company!

Portis 02-07-05 05:49 PM

The one that really torques me off is Jenson USA. I have had it happen twice in recent history. When you order an item that is backordered, it just lets you go ahead and order, instead of saying..."out of stock" So then i wait for a week and nothing shows up. I call them and they say, "oh yeah it looks like a couple of your items are on backorder, we are waiting for them to show up to ship your full order."

landrover 02-07-05 06:10 PM

yeah,

I ordered a pair of Hutchinson MTB slicks late lastmonth (from Nashbar)for the spring...i think that's when they'll arrive.
In reality, they should make it to western Ohio on horseback by Friday, then mutant-carrier pigeon will take em' the rest of the way.
Both Nashbar and Performance Bike have been good to me.
I know this item is in u-s postal service hell.

I find it amazing that a major supplier cannot give a tracking number, and little mom and pop cycling stores on eBay do. Go figure.

phantomcow2 02-07-05 06:19 PM

I have had the best luck with the cycling stores on ebay. THeres this one called "build your bike" which is very friendly and the one "price thumper" i ordered my tensiometer and it was here in 2 days

Best advice in this thread so far-went this route and am happy with them now.

PWRDbyTRD 02-07-05 07:09 PM

I'm aware they're owned by the same company...odd eh? it's clear they wren't started by the same people though. The way things work are totally different.

supcom 02-07-05 07:19 PM

Nashbar usually ships via USPS (the Postal Service) unless you pay for 2-day delivery. It usually takes about 7-9 days for my orders to arrive in Texas. It's no big deal. Just order plenty of time in advance of when you need the item or pony up the extra few buckazoids for 2-day.

BTW, Performance is no better getting things to me. My last order went USPS as well.

Stealthman_1 02-07-05 07:20 PM

Nashbars site works just like Performance, go to order status, enter your order number taken from your confirmation email and you should get a tracking number. Then you should delete this thread as Nashbar doesn't suck.

IMO ....nashbar is pretty crappy right now in my eyes....I won't delete it. I think everyone should be able to openly express their opinions about a merchant.
