Bikes: A lot: Raliegh road bike, 3 fixed gears, 2 single speeds, 3 Cannondales, a couple of Schwinns
I'm leaving for the Seattle area (sort of(Ocean Shores to be exact)) Tuesday for a week out on the coast. I'm interested in renting, but it would also be cool to find a salvage to Fix gear for the week, nothing special. I'm sure I'll be busy with visiting but thought having a bike around would be cool too.
What do you that rent, do? I've thought of going that route too, as there are some tremendous places to do some MTBing.
Help with some ideas?

I think you can rent SS bikes in Ocean Shores. Balloon tires though. The shop might have a MTB for rent too. There's no good mountain biking around Ocean Shores, you'll have to drive a ways. But, then its good.

I don't know exact locations but some of the best mtbiking in the world is a couple of hours from seattle at the north shore. Lots of fantastic XC and some more extreme stuff if you wanna check out what the shore is actually famous for.

Check out two towns: Port Townsend, and Port Angeles. Best bookstore is Angeles Book and News in PA. There is great riding all around the Olympic Peninsula both road and mountain. Get a Washington map and study the Peninsula!

There is a bike trail that runs from Ocean Shores south to Aberdeen that is spectacular it is pretty easy to find. When I get home I will post a ride that I did a couple of years ago from Westport to Ocean shores (you can do it in reverse) it includes a ferry trip. It is mostly good for road cycling though there are some dicey spots just outside Aberdeen. Port Townsend and Port Angeles are really to far away from Ocean shores for a day trip, but there are tons of riding areas up there. Mountain biking is plentiful ear Ocean Shores. If you have both a Mountain bike and a road bike take both. Right now the outlook for weather is good.
