What is going on with this jersey?

Just got my Spring Performance Bike catalog, and I saw this new PI jersey. Immediately busted out laughing...

Yah, well, I guess anything would be better than the ISU jersey. Even the old Bike Forums jersey!

Bikes: More than I need, really.

Don't you know?
That's Ernie and Burt. They're characters on a PBS children's program that begain in the early 1970s. Ernie is, obviously, a metaphor for the devil, and Burt is symbolic of The Man keeping the working class held down.
Censors were quick to pick up on their sexual ambiguity and racial dischord: Burt is yellow/ Ernie is orange (actually "Saffron"). That's why they changed the design of their shirts.
There message has shifted over the years from one of "numbers/counting" to the "letters/alphabet".

The banana is from episode #437, but that's another story altogether.

Ha....Hey, there's plain (mine), and there's flat out ugly (BF). I'll go for plain.

How much does the Bert & Ernie cost, anyway? It's cool and all, but probably not as cool as the price tag.

Of all the fruits they could have chosen, they picked a banana? "Dr. Freud, your 3:30 appointment is here..."

That is an awesome jersey! I don't know if I'd wear it, but I don't really wear jerseys.

I love it! Also if you go to Pearl Izumes site and look through the men's jersey there is an "Oscar the Grouch"! I already sport the PI Cookie Monster jersey out on the trails and not one other mountain biker has challenged my masculinity! If I had the cash I would for sure sport the other two....

There is pick from the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo with Cookie Monster and me but it is copyrighted so you will have to take my word that is very cool!

Gosh...who doesn't love Bert and Ernie, but as an adult I can't imagine wearing it. How about one with little kitties on it?
