Just did my longest ride
Yesterday, I rode my mountain bike on the trail of the Coeur d'Alenes both directions. This is a scenic 72 mile trail along lake Coeur d'Alene and the Couer d'Alene river. Starting around 6:00 AM was a good decision, but the 144 miles was really more than I should have been doing at my current fitness level. While it only took me a little over 9 hours on the bike, by the end I was stopping quite often to deal with cramps and knee pain.
The day was hot enough that I drank over 2 gallons of water and used 7 nuun tablets. My bike clothes are covered with enough salt that they can just about stand on their own.

This is a great trail for long bike rides. Mostly flat, smooth and paved. Last year I did 100 miles (50 out and back) and the only trouble I ran into was running out of water. That's when I found out there was a long stretch where water is not available. I did not make the same mistake this year.
