Big Noggin Helmet

24" of thick skull and no helmet fits right. I did some searching and found older threads etc. My LBS didn't have anything and everything I try isn't low profile (you know the bowl head look). I prefer something BMX low profile style, sub $100 (casual around town riding). Sorry about reposting I didn't want to reply to older threads.

Bell XLV and Specialized MAX, try them for fit.

I've got about 1"-1.5" on ya in head size, and the Giro "Large" size works well for me.

Most of the helmets listed on the older threads are no longer available (found a few). Any new styles out there let me know.

I've narrowed it down to these four, I'm just so picky about fit. I may ask the LBS if they could order all four to try on

Since you're looking for low profile, have you tried Bern? They claim their XXL fits to 24 3/8, XXXL to 25 inches.

e.g., https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...g=pcfchllmn-20

Big Noggin Helmet

I'm leaning towards the Uvex Urban since it has more vents than the Bern. I also got bored and took some Krylon Fushion to my junked up helmet. I figured since its fallen apart I could play with it while I helmet shop.

Specialized--Snell certified. 24" should be covered with a large in most. Not all models will fit exactly the same within a brand. Luckiily I've found the Specialized lids I've bought fit my round-oval head better than others, with my current lid fitting best in terms of shape. It's important to get the smallest size that fits properly which means not settling for a square shaped bucket in a larger size to fit a round shaped peg.

This helmet had removable foam inserts held on with Velcro. Taping off the vents was a lot easier since the foam was removed. The Velcro patches fell off and left a wicked sticky mess. First pic is of the first coat lightly sanded and second pic is soon after spraying. Krylon Fushion paint is pretty awesome stuff. The helmet was originally white.

It's all head shape. I had originally wanted a POC Trabec but even though it was big, the shape was wrong and it didn't sit on my head properly.
