Underground Bicycle parking systems in Japan

Sorry I don't know how to post a link but check this out on Google/Yahoo.
It's pretty cool.
A video by Danny Choo.
Perhaps one of you computer guys could post it for me for all to enjoy.
Thanks
Bob

I think I've seen the video before, awesome idea to help keep bikes secure. I can see it taking off in large cities where cycling is a good way to get around.

I've seen the video, too. Talk about efficient space utilization. A lot of urban train stations have underground bicycle parking space there as well, if not automated like that. I think it's a cool idea.

Bikes: Litespeed Ti Mtb, BikeE Recumbent, Cannondale H600 Hybrid,

For those who of us who ride expensive bikes, this would give us peace of mind, knowing that thieves with bolt cutters are not attacking the locks. Also the lighter the bike, the heavier the locks needed to deter theft and noone likes to ride around carrying heavy and cumbersome u-locks or heavy chains. I need to remove all the meters, lights, saddle pouches, etc as these could be stolen from my locked bike. Quick release.skewers make it easier for thieves to steal wheels or seatposts.

If we are out riding and get caught in a heavy thunderstorm, this would allow us to lock the bike safely, and take the train home.

I saw a bike locked to a bike rack with no saddle or seatpost this evening. Now I know how it happened.

If it's gentle on the bike with no risk of scratching anything, I'm cool with it.

I met some friends for lunch today, and afterward, one person's bike had been stolen!! This sort of thing probably would have prevented it.

This won't solve anything. It will just move the problem from mechanical to software as thieves will have to hack the program of the parking system rather than going through ulocks or chains. They will then have access to all the bikes in there. Good incentive for thieves as it will means less work and a better ROE (return on effort) but bad for us.
And a minor problem is that some bikes like mine won't fit in it the way it is currently designed (recumbents, bikes with wide handlebars, tandems etc)
