Bike Salesmen??

Bike Salesmen??
Okay, so I went to two bike shops today whilst on a trip to Tamworth, the C&W capital of the WORLD. What is it with bike salesmen, they all shave their legs? Should the shaved legs of a salesman indicate to the buyer that the salesman is a biker or are many of them cross dressers etc. If there's a reason for shaving legs, would someone please enlighten me?

a lot of road bikers do it, search the forum and specify the road forum. you will see the horror and disbelief for yourself.

I'm 60 years old and have been shaving my legs since I "got serious" about road riding in 2001. I've had a few mishps on the road and believe me --- Road rash and hairy legs don't mix!!

I've always refused to shave mmy legs. Now that I've had a serious case of road rash, and the subsiquient pain that goes with it, I'm considering leg shaving. The odd pimpling that occurs when the hair grows back grossed out my pregnat wife too much.

Shaved legs are noticeably cooler on the hot, humid days of summer. Plus it's easier to apply sunscreen, recovery lotions, etc. Massages are more comfortable. Finally, it makes changing the bandages much less painful after a crash.

My brother acquired a serious burn from his motorcycle exhaust pipe and was horrified when I suggested shaving his leg around the burn. He became a convert very quickly since we needed to change the bandage and dress the wound twice a day. In fact, he asked me to expand the shaved area further than his original boundaries due to the relief from not having his leg hairs pulled out by the roots. Now, he understands why shaved legs are preferable when injuries and bandages are involved.
