Need to get one with a motor

....said the hardley davidson rider as I pedalled past him at a red light...I laughed it off and then whipped back with "I have one right here" and patted my thigh

I've had that said to me before. I just reply with the quote under my name.
"I've got one, 2 cylinders, half a horsepower". It makes em feel bad when you're keeping up with them in traffic and they have 250 hp and you only have 1/2 hp.

Why would you want to make one of the Hell's Deviates or whatever "feel bad". I'm sure that some of those bikers couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, but the weapons they carry probably more than make up for it.

1/2hp is a little generous don't you think

Nah. In highschool, we calculated HP by timing how fast we could climb a flight of stairs. Using a formula that also took our weight into account, we could calculate how much power was exerted. Basically, X mass lifted Y distance in Z time. We could then calculate HP.

One bigger guy (approaching or exceeding 200 lbs) was over 1 HP. I was somewhere in the 0.7 range.

Mind you, this is full-throttle exertion compete-with-your-classmates numbers, so you'll probably be be pushing way less than that on an average commute. Still, 1/2 HP it entirely reasonable, you could even say 3/4 HP I think!

I guess it depends on if you're claiming 1/2 horsepower for a holeshot, or for a longer ride. Yes, numbers exceeding 1 hp are possible for a few seconds. Using my times from hour rides, I've calculated my output at about 0.4 hp. A half hp would be enough to let you nail a 4-hour century without drafting.

If I push myself and I'm healthy, the weather's good, I can average 22mph on a rolling course. Say I hold 25mph for 1 hour on flat ground in warm weather, how many HP would I need?

because on campus you're allowed to use the crosswalks...cars must yield to you in a certain area. I do get hassled alot, but this guy was nice about it, and just joking around. Most of my hassling is simply teenagers yelling at me b/c I'm big

Bikes: 2 many

Seems like a lot of motorcycles pull up next to me at lights. A lot of them challenge me to a race, just as a friendly comment. When I accept the challenge they get a good laugh out of it. I get to see some nice wheelies and hole shots too. They are all friendly to me.
