Hi, I'm a daily commuter / weekend cyclist and just started this year.

How many more accessories I can buy?

My commute: Home to go station on my Norco Ridaue, then on my destination pick a 2nd hand centuries old MTB and ride 2.3km to office.

I've accessorized my hybrid with

Fenders
Rack
Lights, bells
Kick stand
lock
Water bottle holder, and water bottles
Cycling shorts, and cycling under-wears (MUST)

And I use skate boarding helmet. In winters I use mittens, toque and ski glasses. And I also use ankle straps

Now, wish list includes:

1. A better helmet
2. Shock absorbing gloves. May help in weekend rides like these

I would move arm and knee warmers up a few spots on your list. I get a ton of use out of them in the fall and spring.

What's better for rain? Fenders or water proof jackets and pants? Commute : ~ 4 km one way

I would say fenders. The water that falls from the sky is pretty clean, but the water that sprays up from the street? Not so much.

On the helmet front I'd suggest something from Bern. t's a classy all sport helmet with separate liners for summer and winter. They're not cheap, but they're worth it. You don't need items 6 and 7 for \/.

It hasn't been really cold here for a while but I saw a biker in Rotterdam a few years ago who had 'mittens' attached to his handle bars. You simply insert your bare hands inside these 'mittens' and shield your hands from the cold while biking.

From what I understand these 'mittens' are somewhat common for motorcycles or motorbikes(?). At any rate. I thought that was a good idea and have yet to come across this in any bike shop.

These are often called "pogies" or "bar mitts" if someone wants to search for them.

Commuting?...get an Airzound airhorn, and some sort of mirror.

Many thanks guys. I got a Vroom sports jacket, water and wind resistant. Working very well! Light and wind / water resistant and keeps me warm.
