Thank you for your responses. I'll tell my buddy what he has is aluminum road bike with possibly a cyclecross carbon fork. It has nice wheels.

I don't think any of their bikes have carbon forks......

From the OP's description, the bike has forks with centre pull (I assume cantilever) bosses for the brakes while the rear has caliper brakes (as do all the road bikes on the website, front and rear). This indicates that the fork has been changed from the original and could be made from anything.
