Totally get where you're coming from. You might be surprised at how well you'll feel (relatively speaking, of course) even if you go out for a ride. I use to strength train and wouldn't cancel appts with my trainer for a cold, unless it really knocked me out. I was surprised at how well I'd do once I got started. I started riding when I had colds after seeing I could do that and it wasn't so bad.
Biggest piece of advice I can give you: lay off tough hills or terrain that traditionally elevate your breathing/heart rate until you see how you respond overall.

I had the remnants of a terrible cold when I went out on New Year's Day for the Icicle Bicycle Ride here in Pittsburgh. The cold was absolutely the worst I have had in years for both longevity and severity, with a running nose and cough that lasted for a month. I didn't want to miss the ride, even though the weather was pretty cold (24 degrees with a wind chill of 11 - coldest I'd ever ridden). I got about 5 miles into it and realized that I just didn't have the lungs for the pace we were riding and my nose had turned into a snot factory running at 110% of capacity! I baled on the ride at that point - probably should have just slowed down and continued, but my toes were starting to get to me, too.
I've ridden through other colds with no problem in warmer weather, so if I were you and the temps are in the 50's as you've said, I'd go for it. Especially if you've been cooped up and are suffering from cabin fever.

When I swam daily in my 30s I could jump in the pool with a cold and finish 45 minutes later feeling fine. I've tried that in my 40s and 50s riding my bike for 45 minutes, but, no, I just drag and make myself sicker. Maybe it's my age.

I opted out of friday because I was still coughing and sneezing fitfully. Today i felt good enough to try but when I got started the wind made it a bit cooler and harder than I cared to push at this time. 3 miles I was home again.
Kinda depressing because the numbers coming across my garmin were making me very happy.
Bit I did get an endorphin boost. So there's that.
