Bikes: Trek 520 '83 & a Franken-Mongoose

LBSs in the Twin cities

Right now, I'm on the lookout for places with large selections of tires. In general, I enjoy visiting bike shops and looking around, esp if there's a used part section. Also interested in open workshops and classes.
Places I've checked out & liked so far-
St Paul- Mr Michael's
Minneapolis- The Hub
Penn on Lake
Perennial
One on one
Inver Grove- Bike King

Anybody have some good recommendations?

Hey, late to reply; sorry about that.

If you are in Minneapolis, give the team at velofix a go. We stock a wide selection of tyres and can order pretty much anything you want. Best of all, we will come to you.

Bikes: Surly Ice Cream Truck, Peacock Groove road bikem, Salsa Fargo

In addition to the shops you mentioned, Freewheel is also a good lbs. Pretty good selection of tires.

Bikes: Schwinn Suburban 1974

CountyCycles of St. Paul has racks of odd tires. I bought a 1974 Schwinn Suburban there (which I am still riding).
They had in stock the 27" Kenda K34 semi-knobby tires that I wanted.
I also got a (I am at a loss as what to call it) rear-rack-with-spring-loaded-clamp, that I use every trip to carry stuff. I cannot find anything as good lately.
Got some fenders and new tires for another 27" bike.
Got a thumb shifter kit to retrofit the other bike that had the shifter between the knees.
Got city-bike handle bars.

One of my favorites is Express Bikes in St. Paul. Nice knowledgeable people, very friendly, lots of used parts to look through. Tires as well, but not tons - place an order with them.

Another I don't get to as often is Recovery Bike Shop in NE Mpls. Friendly helpful staff, tons of used bikes & used parts, some tires also.
