Hey,

I'm in Chicago and just finally introduced myself over in Introductions. I'm getting ready to get a new bike and am looking to get some experience on longer rides- I'm mostly under six miles (round trip- commuting, shopping and general errand running).

I wouldn't frown at a meet-up- we're close to downtown and don't have a car, so suburban rides would be difficult. Unfortunately, Saturday rides are out until after this spring semester of teaching is over.

re trails

There's an extended trail system that goes from Springfiled to Loveland near Cincinati with legs the run west to Dayton and East to London (Total of about 200 miles) The hub is in Xenia Ohio

Also there is a system of trials in the Newark area that includes Blackhand Gorge and a spur that goes up to Johnstown.

I live in Columbia Station, Ohio--southwest of Cleveland

I ride a hyrid to commute and will also use it to strengthen my quads---I just am being released from my MD after a bilateral TKR.

I normally ride about 100 miles per week.

I live just South East of the 83/Detroit Rd intersection. Not the most cycling friendly place in the world but it is not the worst either I guess.

I live right on Ohio State Rt. 252---when I ride to school (I teach at CHS) I go up to Sprague and then down Westriver Road---it is much safer thant Columbia Rd.

Hello everyone.

Roadie from Albert Lea, MN.

Rural rides in rolling hills territory. I usually try to get in at least 25 miles each weeknight and two 60+ milers on weekends.

I'm considering riding in the IronMan, provided I can get my "century legs" ready. Spring weather's not being overly cooperative this year though.

Will definitely be doing the Jesse James Bike Tour again this year in September.

The big goal for this year is an out and back to Sioux Falls, SD some weekend.

Hi all.

I live in Chicago currently, but I put in a good five years in Ann Arbor, MI, and I grew up in crappy suburban metro Detroit.

I ride an old Trek road bike converted to fixed gear primarily, but I also have a geared '70s Centurion touring bike and an old Specialized mountain bike for when the moods strike me. I can be seen primarily on the streets of the Pilsen neighborhood and on the Lakefront Trail heading southbound for ten miles to work any morning when the weather isn't totally terrible.

I'm Dan and live in Schaumburg. Just picked up my first road bike - 08 specialized tarmac pro. I work near the sears centre (higgins/59) so I am very close to the shoe factory FP which I have done quite a few times on my mtn bike (03 sworks epic). I have a couple nice bikes now but hardly ride (308 miles on my epic since new ~3.5 yrs ). That will change this yr. Looking forward to hearing about and attending some group rides as well as meeting some of you guys.

Anyone know if there is still a group that rides out of willow creek church? Back about 15 yrs ago I used to do this ride with my dad. There were a bunch of people and a few groups for different skill levels.

Another Milwaukee area rider, though new to the area. Just started commuting (Menomonee Falls to the AB Clock Tower). Also looking for good road rides in the area.

Checking in from the south side of Milwaukee. Looking for someplace I can get a new or (hopefully) used Specialized Hardrock, as recommended to me in the newbie forum. Can anyone help?

Dan, I live about 1 mile from your office. I am in Shoe Factory FP all the time on my commutes. The Willow Creek ride has changed into another ride and I can't remeber it right now. There is a ride out of Harper Satuday mornings ... pretty fast. I ride with Spin Doctors out of Elgin on Saturday mornings, 50 miles fairly fast. There are Tuesday night Penny Road Pub rides.

There are others. Let me know what your looking for.

I may be mistaken, but I think the Tuesday night Penny Road Pub ride morphed out of the old Willow Creek rides. I could be wrong on that, since I only started joining the Penny Road Pub ride last summer.
