I was outside drifting in Shonda. The only good thing about her is the 4WD and light steering. It brings me back to my "Rain Master" days.
But in headline news today, I GOT MY PTAP BACK!
It's too bad I can't use it because of the snow.

12/7- 13 miles of unplowed neighborhood sidestreets on the mtb. Wanted to do the cx race but, I would have been falling every couple hundred feet.

I didn't ride, but I began my cross-training today.
3 miles of running, mostly on dirt trails around my house that are too lame to ride on.
My first time running in a few years, but it's A LOT warmer than riding; I came back home sweating my ass off. The key to avoiding the shin pain I guess is stretching well before and after. My legs felt a little heavy and noodly for the next few hours, but I feel better now.
Oh yeah; I washed all of the gay off of me afterwards. I'm safe to ride with now.

The joke is lost...
And I wasn't jogging! I was trail-running. I'd reckon it's the same difference between recumbent riding and XC MTBing.
No run today, but I rode 14.53 miles today with the PTap. Either I weigh a lot more so I'm putting out more watts than I remember, or I'm just faster sooner, but my perceived exertion was less than what I was putting out. I hit 1016 w in a sprint without being out of breath.
I'd like to try an all-out sprint on a clear, non-icy piece of road and see if I can top out my old top sprint which was in the ~1400w range. I'm hoping to get my 5s power to 18.5w/kg by June or July this year. As soon as I get a full racing schedule I'll be able to put together a comprehensive training plan.

4 miles of running today. Even though it was muddy, and I don't have trail-running shoes (they're nice, though!), and I got completely mud-soaked running through large puddles next to the creek, it was much more enjoyable. I washed my shoes off and they're sitting in front of the dehumidifier.

12/11..........Did not have much time today but got in 20 miles in just over 1 hour. 30degrees and humid so it felt kind of raw out but the almost 0 wind was a treat. Very nice ride once I got warmed up

12/11- 33 miles I also broke my 'trainer' wheel. Its been acting like a transmission about to go, and now I can just spin the crank and get no movement. i'm thinking a dead freehub?? so 2/3 of those miles were on the cross bike.

Not the Xero, is it? I feel like I need to apologize for that thing.
I went on "break" from cycling yesterday and thought i wouldn't ride until January, but today was too nice to pass up. I snuck out for 39 miles. It was more of a "cleaning the pipes" ride.
-I'm missing about 400 watts on my 5 second power and about the same for 15 seconds.
-I set pretty decent 30s and 1m numbers on a certain 1 minute climb with specific start-finish points. This will be used for future testing ground.
-I still can't get over how much weaker my top-end is.

12/10 - 4.6 miles
12/11 - 7.7 miles
Managed to get on the mountain bike for first time in almost 2 weeks. Local trails were rideable. Some patches of snow on the Rock Run Greenway trail (only 1/2 inch at most). Will be too cold tomorrow but may try to ride after work Saturday before it rains on Sunday here. Back to ice/snow by Monday.

Tried the MagTurbo trainer again today. I can't do it! I just can't do it!
I've tried listening to music; I've tried the tv; I've tried reading; I have the fan blowing on me. It just doesn't work for me. It's way too much like the drudgery of exercising. Somehow, when I'm on the road or the MUP, it's not really like exercise - it's fun or if not actually fun, it's not drudgery.
I guess I'm going to have to HTFU and get back outside regardless of the weather.

Can't never could! Repeat after me YES I CAN!!
I watched U2 Elevation 2001 the other day while on the trainer and it was actually quite enjoyable. Attracted my kids into the room to watch w/me and voila, I had company. I think watching rock shows on tv while on the trainer is the ticket. WOrks for me anyhow.

One of those winter days of nothing/lazyness... ( I have a lot of those) It felt like it was 5 degrees. Movies/ Junk food seemed like the better idea.

12/13 - 20 Miles, Joliet Junction / Rock Run Greenway
Low to mid 30's, _very_ windy, plenty of snowy / icy patches, but nothing terrible.
Felt great to get out, 1st time since Thanksgiving weekend.
Hopefully tomorrow won't be a rain-out.

12/13 - Finally, an outdoor ride other than a commute! 40 miles, 2 hours 26 minutes.
The wind was the real story today. I did this same route on Thanksgiving Day with about six minutes over LT. Today...41 minutes over LT. It was all fun and games until I looked at my Garmin and saw 95 rpm for the cadence, 185 bpm for the heart rate, and 11.1 mph for the speed on a flat section. Good times...

I pulled on my shorts, asked myself why I was doing that, and then put some real clothes on. I did next to nothing physical tonight.
I did get to share my favorite movie tonight though; the movie that I'm obligated (by rule #1 and #2) to not talk about.

Fight Club, bra. Fight Club.
It's my new goal to move to the French region of Belgium in two to three years. And by move to, I mean I want to get a visa and live in poverty, only training and racing by day and working in an American-themed restaurant by night.
I'm totally serious.
