Chilly in the 20s, still achy from my first racquetball match in 3 years, but it was a good 20 miles in. Had to work for it, but that's good.

Got out for a solo 26 mile ride today with a NNW wind @ 15 mph. Great day for a ride-loved being in the snow-scaled scenery west of Beloit/Rockton. Rode over some ice and packed snow on my winter road bike. 700 x 25's @ 85 psi are awfully comfy-even on an all aluminum bike.

40 mile ride today. My new Nalini thermal jacket is f'in HOT! I wore a fall-weight base layer underneath and I was freaking sweating! I think a long-sleeve CoolMax base layer would be the best, but my sleeveless will have to do. My new Bellwether golves were frickin awesome too, no coldness in my hands. This is a good winter. No cold chest, no cold hands.

Been stuck on the trainer this week. Weather man here is a joke! Oy! Here's yesterday:
"“Gray, damp, chilly until Christmas Eve then raining and windy into Christmas Day, sorry about that.”
Sorry? How about be sorry that it snowed all day??? Then I wake up early this morning to ride and see this.
"“Ironic - we have had light snow all week, but will not have a White Christmas. Rainy over the special day and night.”
I fail to see the irony.
The other local weather says snow in the morning, so it looks like another exciting hour on the trainer! WHEEE!

12/24 got outside for the first time in ages. Only 13 miles but it sure was better than all inside. Did spin a extra 5 0n the trainer for good measure.
Most of my training this winter has been swimming and indoor running of late, even bought some real live running shoes. 30 to 45 minutes of swimming and 20-30 of running and then some excersise bike thrown in for good measure. Kind of a triathelon. Oh and before I forget.....
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all. And for those of other faiths, may you find happiness and fulfilment in your journey.

I did 15 miles today in the CVNP. It was all good except for the numb toes by the time I got back home.
What is the secret to keeping your toes warm in 30f weather?
I taped the vents on my shoes and had on three pairs of socks.

jwh, go to performance bike and get a pair of booties, they are made of neprene wtih a rubber sole that can be cut out for clipless (if you ride clipless). I have tried several kinds and have had the best success with perforamances.

12/26 10 miles in and I get a flat, only the second one this year but the cold and wet drove me to call the wife to get me home. It would have been a decent ride though as the sun came out and the temp was around 35. Oh well better luck next time.
Here is an interesting observation though, A few weeks back had a bad encounter with a guy in a pick-up, tried to hit me and the wife as we cleared an intersection, witnesses and all but guess what, the Ohio State Patrol would do nothing about it (go figure??) no one was hurt or suffered any damage so they told us nothing could be done. I found out where the guy lived and as I rode by the house today I spit on his mail-box, 1/2 mile later I have a flat. Bad MOJO! What ya thing?

1.5 hours of cross practice beind my house for the past two days.
No helmet, no spare tubes. Very fun. People were staring at me like I'm crazy. Caked in mud yesterday, and caked in mud, snow and ice today.

Speaking of.... Did about 1 hr 45 minutes or so on a very snowy/slippery bike path, though I strayed off the bike path as much as possible to go "off road". Took a couple pics with my Palm Pre:
Here's the Smoke in the snow
And here's the Olentangy bike path this morning!
It was a blast! Kicked my ass all over the place!

It was cold here in the valley. I think I saw a bank sign that said 29 but it felt more like 15-20. Either way it was too nice of a day not to do something, so I took the road bike out for a spin. I made a video, look up thread homemade videos.
I always forget this thread is for the great likes area. Or has it become adapted to general.

Not a bad October, a little over 500 miles, considering it rained about half of the days. Weekends tended to be good and I was doing rides a little longer than usual. With DST, no more commuting, I won't ride in darkness during rush hour. On a side note, I just had my first brake on my car. I went 113,000 miles. I guess I don't stop much.

Great weather in November, on the weekends. I got out more than I expected. December sucked, I don't ride in the snow and I got out only once for a short ride. Overall, I fell short of my goal. I'll do better next year.
