First race of the year Tour of Knox County. Great ride, nice course, well run, about 55 riders total. Raced in the very fast Masters class and learned I have a lot of work to do. Third time around on the big hill I fell off, jumped on with the leading group of 4's and rode in with them. Overall, I'm happy since this was only my fourth ride outside this year. Nice day...finally!

Riding today was not the best idea for my Bronchitis. I am really feeling it in my lungs tonight. On a more positive note my wrist that I hurt at Ray's today is taking my mind off of it

Just got my new bike for the season. My old one was like 10 years old and the tires were all out of wack. I'm so excited to get going!

36 mile recovery ride. Moved my seat up a cm at the recommendation of an experienced bike fitter. Felt good, another nice day that started out chilly. Looks like a decent upcoming week weather wise...

41 miles to Hinckely and back to Medina to do 10 minute overgear hill repeats early this AM. For the buzzard counters, they are back, saw 15 sitting in a tree at the corner of RT 303 and RT 94. Not sure if they were waiting for me to expire. Note to self: dark patches on asphalt @ 30 degrees are slippery.

3/6 - 12.4 miles
After work ride down to JJC lot area. Included early supper stop at McDonalds before heading home before sunset. Rock Run Trail is literally trashed north of the college where the preserve idiots cut lots of trees down sometime in late Nov. thru Feb. of this year. Lots of cinder and salt stuff on trail along short stretch of Jefferson St.. Good thing I have on those tire savers inside the tires or i'd would likely had a flat.

3/7 - no ride (rained til mid pm)

Hopefully will get 50 miles this week but work and on and off rain this week may curtail it some.

Later,
Brian

Posting this about a half a day too late but yesterdays ride was beautiful. A friend and I decided to just go ride the town due to the gorgeous weather here in PA. I got to take my touring bike out for the first time this year. The first time on the road since the drop handlebar conversion for this bike. I was more than pleasantly surprised as to how much better the bike felt has a true road bike, rather than a flatbar/roadbike hybrid. I noticed the climbs were significantly easier and changing gears was far easier than before.

Here is a shot from the ride.

What's that green stuff on the ground?

Ride-n-glide #??? Rode 60 minutes around the Okauchee Lake area followed by 30 mins of XC skiing at Nashotah Park.
FAST skis again today. It's almost getting too hot to ski -> 47F with bright sun, are you kidding me? Get out the shorts!
Saw one roadie out. I'm guessing he works at Wheel and Sprocket in Nashotah and was out during lunch.

Exactly Dan! My dark patch was on the RT 94 hill leading up to State Rd. Rode over it twice during my 4 hill repeat workout. The 2nd time over it resulted in a quick rest/recovery in the middle of the interval.

Well, 36 miles today but looks like rain is a coming. Not a bad thing though, the roads could use a bath!

Bill how did the race go? Actually thought about that race just for kicks but came to my senses.

Dan, I had some stomach issue going on warming up and during the race. I abandoned about 1/2 through the race. I was riding well, even leading the pack up a good steep hill on several of the 4 mile laps but decided that it would not be a good idea to puke in a pack of riders. I should have stayed home but thought that once warmed up I would feel better.

I think I'm doing the Frosty Toes Race this weekend. It should be a fast pack race since there are no hills.

20 so far today and I left the jacket at home for the morning ride. Chilly but felt too good to care. The ride home is going to be beautiful.

Got in a beautiful leisurely 15 miles or so today. The weather here in PA was another gorgeous day at around 60 or just under. This is the third day in a row which means the scenery is already different from day one. Here's a few pics from the ride.

36 quicker miles today. Did half the ride with a "junior" and half solo. Getting more comfortable with my seat raised up a bit. Thinking about Frostie Toes this weekend.
