But it was fine by me as I was coughing up my lungs after the 2nd race was over. I was OTB twice
At least I can blame Thomas for showing up sick to a training race. Dumbass he is.

Got in a 25 mile hill specific ride after work tonight. Its basically two 9.5 mile loops targeting the largest hills in my immediate area and a single 6 mile loop that goes after a few short but steep sections in my neighborhood. Felt strong including one loop where I went the full time in the big ring. It's a bit rough on the body, but like I said, i felt strong enough to go hard today

Out of work a little early. 40 miles in beautiful weather. Tailwind heading out going north. Yikes! Heavy windage coming back south. Hey, saw a new brew pub in West Dundee, the M. T. Barrel. Anybody try it yet? Anybody want to do a Fox River Trail ride conveniently nearby and stop in afterwards to sample their wares?

M.T. Barrel's has been open just under a year and the one time we went it was pretty good. Apparently the name comes from the fact that the building used to house a barrel maker/seller. It's kind of the upstart brewpub on the block, given that the more established Emmett's is about 100 feet up the street.

M.T. Barrel's has a more speakeasy feel than Emmett's. Both are really great restorations of 19th century buildings. Check them both out.

I keep hearing about the same wind here. I rode in again today to help continue support for bike to work week - that and I love riding in obviously.

My commute home is straight North into the wind. Can't wait.

HAHA - didn't notice it this morning. Of course maybe that's because I was heading South.

Psimet, checking out the window of my weather station here it does not appear that the wind from the north is all that bad. Most of the trees are at an 85-90 degree angle to the ground, as compared to a few days ago when they were at a constant 70-80 degrees to the ground.

You're in good shape, unless a powerful front comes through.

Commuted on my motorcycle to work today. 30 miles at 65mph is quite a workout not to get blown from the bike, does that count for upper body workout?

I would tend to agree, but all sorts of guys have been coming in all day to tell me that it's a bad wind....of course these guys rode during lunch and are not really considered.....riders.

I guess I must consider the source....or just go find out in 5 minutes.

I did the Wed Night group rider last night, it was wet and sloppy but really fun. I crashed pretty good. I love adrennaline, because I was riding pretty good after the accident.

I agreed to go "biking" with a new friend I met at work this evening, I waited and waited but no new Friend to bike with, so as I was leaving to go ride alone my "new" friend showed up in a nicely polished Harley hehehe, can't believe it, I will be careful next time and say "Cycling"

Yeah....I have to be real careful with that one. Everyone I meet in my line of work always thinks of the motorized kind of bike. It usually goes like this:

Coworker: "Well psimet rides his bike in to work all the time."
Vendor: "Seriously? That's great."
Me: "Yeah I try to commute in a few times a week. I also ride on the weekends a lot. Travel to go on rides in new places."

coworker: "You race too don't you?"
Me:"Technically, but it's not much of a race."
Vendor:"Seriously!!?? How does that kind of racing work? What engine size do you race?"
Me: "Uhhhh....My engine is about a 185 right now. I'm trying to get it down to a 165 as soon as possible."
Vendor:
Me: "I ride a bicycle. I am an avid cyclist."
Vendor - in unison with me lip synching it: "Oh, I thought you meant motorcycle. You mean you ride a BICYCLE from Elgin to here? How far is that? How long does it take? I don't think I could even ride 10 miles. I used to ride a lot when I was younger. I have an old bike that supposedly pretty good. I rode it a lot right after I bought it, but now it's just hanging in the garage. I don't even know if it still works..."

Me: *busy reading posts on BF* "Uh huh."
Vendor:"....so like how many miles do you rid ein a year? Do you have some place to take a shower? Did Lance really dope or do the French just hate us? If it wasn't for us they'd be speaking German right now...."

That would not necessarily be a bad thing. At least I would have been able to order a damn baguette or a Quiche Lorraine without braking my tongue trying to explain how exactly I want it. And my cycling vacations in the hypothetical far western part of Germany close to the Spain border would have been also easier

Too many numbers.

For future reference, all we need to know is this:
  • How Far?
  • How Fast?
  • Did you puke?
  • What recovery beer did you enjoy?

About 30 miles for the day.

Very Slow!

No barfing ... just tired, no leg strength.

No beer, went to bed at 8:30. Wuss!
