59.7 mile solo ride. I haven't ridden since Thursday, and that wasn't much.
I drafted off of a Chevy Tahoe with a canoe for 2.5 miles at 35mph, and I liked how I could see myself in the paint. I look more pro than I am.
I didn't have any ride goals, and I only climbed one hill because I haven't climbed anything since last Sunday. I tried a few sprints, but nothing too powerful, my max wattage was 1175 watts, which isn't close to what my top end is.
Right now my goal is to keep from losing muscle and lose some more weight.

I ran into the group I usually ride with on Sundays as they were ending their ride. I forgot they were riding today, but I got invited to an 80-some miler tomorrow on Memorial Day which I won't miss. I still need the mileage; unfortunately, The Animators won't be there tomorrow, although a few teammates will.

::EDIT:: I yelled really loud at a sleepy faced motorist today for almost running me over. He looked frightened, rolled up his windows and sped off while I continued to yell at him.

5/25 = YES

finally back on the bike. after a week of preparing for yesterdays 10 mile Soldier Field run i got to ride my bike. i missed her. the legs were tight and i really needed to spin them out and take it easy. something i normally struggle with. i like my stats :).

anyway, i really nailed the ride. 31 miles with a 109 avg HR. the legs feel 100% better now. this slow and easy ride could very well be the most important ride i have done in a while as the legs were hurting from undertraining for the run.

it aint always about speed and stats and what the others are doing. :)

later.

me and my son, met up with the Lorain Wheelmen for the sunday ride. did 58 miles and added another 20 miles to get 78 miles total, which is my son's personnel best. This gave me 202.8 miles so far this weekend.

voldemort 05-25-08 07:16 PM

80 miles. First 70 miles on the Fox River Trail, up to McHenry and back. Nasty wind coming back south. :giver: 3 hours later (does that make it a recovery ride?) another 10 with wife and son, rocketing along at about 7 mph, sometimes up to 10 or even 11. Whoah!! The world is almost a blur at that speed. Maybe that's just because my eyes had glassed over and I was semi-comatose after the first few minutes riding like this. Let's just say we have different riding philosophies.

I thought you were the guy who wasn't counting miles......

I went a whopping 4 miles today. i dunno, I think that makes about 30 for the weekend but the really good thing is it was with my wife who is, a couch potato. I bought her a giant suede in March and I think this was her first ride. She did not crash and seemed to like it.

velocipede2288 05-26-08 02:52 AM

I did 30 miles from Ystradgylais to Ammanford a few days ago and put it on the Youtube. A part of the ride can be seen on my site if you click on the screen you see. There is a short clip of me going down a hill, then the next one to come up is the Ammanford run.

5/25

I only did 9 miles hauling the baby girl on the trailer. For tomorrow I have plans for a 60 miler. Lets see how it goes.

ColorChange 05-26-08 05:41 AM

5/25 Did 25.0 miles in Barrington mostly at endurance pace ... until I tried to hurry home to avoid the rain. Didn't make it, into the wind (30 mph) and rained on. Monday ... rest.

HngUpNDrv 05-26-08 05:58 AM

5/24 40
5/25 I was 30 miles into a 45 mile ride and I sliced my sidewall. Guess its time for new tires hopefully the next ones will last more than 200 miles.

cyclezealot 05-26-08 06:04 AM

This routine is getting old. Last week we had company. No time to ride. And it was nice weather. / They left, it rained like cats and dogs for two days. Today it is sunny and I have a painful sore throat. Last couple Sundays, during our planned group rides and I was free. THey were canceled , because it rained. The gods are working against us.

5/25 - Took my new ride out for its maiden voyage. 3 miles <==in my defense I did run a 1/2 marathon in the morning.

Just took it to the store and back to pick up some beers. On my way back I ran into this guy at an intersection that was riding a Wal*Mart mtn bike that was obviously not doing it for the exercise. He saw that I could fit a 12-pack into each of the baskets I had and said he had to go get himself some of those. I honestly expected that he was going to ask me if I had lost my driver's license too  Meet my new liquor-cycle:

holy cow, what a weekend.. total miles 154, crazy :thumb:

Drove down to Lexington, KY for the Horsey Hundred weekend. Originally it was a century split into two days. 50 on Sat, and 50 on Sun... but now they off a century (well 104 mile century) on Saturday and then a option to ride 30/50/70 on Sun. ...and so I rode...

5/24/08 - 104 miles... and with the biggest hills I've ever seen next to HHH. Seriously you guys, if you want a ride, you need to make this trip, you would love it. The hills are crazy, and they don't stop... and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. Here is one pic, I wished I had taken so many more... but I just wanted to get it over with... cause if I stopped on my bike, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back on:cry: It was tough, by far, the toughest century I've ever done... but then again, I've only done a few:rolleyes:

5/25/08 - 50 miles. I had nothing left on Sunday... but I didn't drive 6hrs for one day riding. So joined the crew and gutted out 50 miles... ouch... talk about quad burn

Again, this is a great ride guys. Knowing this group who posts on here, I bet you all would love it. :D

edit... awwww heck I'll throw one in of the bf and I. He's a saint... stayed with me the whole 154 miles and put up with my back seat driving. I tell my Mom I doubt another guy would put up with me and she says "you're probably right"..

5/26....tossed Mrs Garysol1 on the back of the Tandem. Rode out East to the Metro Parks by way of Westlake then back West on Lake road. In Westlake we paced there annual Memorial Day parade so that was fun. Once again the wind was unforgiving especially by the lake.
27.36 miles..... in about 1.5 hours.
Total weekend mileage is 140ish.

aham23 05-26-08 12:28 PM

5-25 = yes

how'd it happen?

It happened in a spot where bike trail is crossing the road. I had green light - car traffic was waiting on red. First car decided to make right turn on red and hit me without even seeing my bike entering the intersection from the trail. If you know Poplar Creek trail - it's where it crosses Shoe Factory Rd.

CyLowe97 05-26-08 04:14 PM

wireless, sorry to here you got hit. :( I know that intersection well. I had a clipless fall there once. That's a spot where you always have to think cars are not going to pay attention. There were times I would just get off my bike and walk it across 59 and the Shoe Factory with the lights.

As for riding... 5/26 - Yes.

Watched the races for a while down in Batavia this morning and then got a mid-afternoon ride near my place. Went over and did some hill repeats in Sleepy Hollow and W. Dundee. 3 x Crane, 3 x Beau Brummel, and 5 x Oak Hill (), plus assorted streets near there.

I saw cyclpsycho heading down McLean right before the tollway underpass as I was heading home. I had my head down and didn't see him till he was almost past. Sorry I didn't say 'yo!'

whitesox 05-26-08 05:12 PM

no riding for me today... but decided to go do a 5 mile trail run. Good way to loosen up those tired legs :D

Glad you're okay. Sorry to hear about the bike. Is it bad enough to justify getting a new one?;) I know that trail. And I've seen drivers roll right through those lights for a "right on red without stopping...and damn the bicycles and pedestrians who get in my way".:notamused:

Nice! Sounds like a great ride. I need to look into this next year. Maybe we can even carpool or something with gas prices the way they are.
