What's the scoop, leinad? You survived something out there, it would seem. Glad of that, for sure.

Gory details for the internets, please.

For those out there that like to hear the bloody details, here goes: Well we are on a ride with one of the slower groups in the area, (I liked the destination they had so that is why we are with them) so to make it interesting for us faster riders we do sprints to any yellow diamond road sign, one point for each win (needless to say Gary gets them all, but it's stll fun). so as we approach this one sign we are egging each other on, we both stand and give it everything and I immeditaly come out of my pedal throwing me over the handlebars, Gary valiantly trys to hold me up but to no avalil over I go and very hard to boot. As told by the others I guess I rolled over pretty good. total damages: both knees, both shoulders, both ankles, both hips, I think a crack left forarm and my cross I wear leftt a gash in my chest. Ruined bibs and jersey. I did finish the ride though.

leinad---sorry to hear about the fall---but all things considered, it could have been worse. Glad to hear that you are Okie-Dokie, but my gut feeling is that you will be sore inthe morning.

Asfor me, I only rode 23 miles today. It was indeed a little on the war side here on the north coast...

PS---did you guys see the car accident in the paper out in Lagrange---Parsons Rd. and SR 301---three of my students were lifeflighted to Metro after they met a tractor trailer loaded with 29 tons of sand...

referee, Hope the kids all come through!! I know that intesection well and was surprised, because the direction they where going gives you the best veiw at that intersection. Kids don't realize how dangerous this driving stuff can be!!

26 workout miles yesterday on the roads at Stoney Creek Metropark. Dozens of other bikers out there in the early morning hours when it was overcast and 70F, although 90% humid. I'm totally off running for a while to let an injury heal, so have to use the bike to satisfy my urge to sweat. I was successful at that goal.

Making the turnaround at the end of the Nature Center spur, a woman by her car flagged me down. I stopped to see if she had some trouble, but she just started lighting into me about bikers not moving over to let her pass "safely". She asked if there was some sort of event going on since there were so many of them. This road, by the way, is a favorite for practicing straight-line speed since it's about a mile and a half of straight two-lane with even less traffic than the main park road. Everyone's on their tri-bars, if they've got 'em. It's not exactly hard to pass, and besides it's a 35mph limit.

I tried to explain that we're all just individuals riding out there, but she seemed to think that I somehow represented the entire sport of bicycling. I finally just told her that I'd take care of the situation and went on my way.

I was wearing my BFNIC jersey, so consider yourselves informed!

63 miles yesterday at the Green Bay Tour de Cure. Rode with my wife the whole time as it was the furthest she had ever gone. 30+ miles into a 20 mph headwind and the rest was with that same wind at our backs. She was running out of steam at about mile 45, but toughed it out until we got to the last stretch with the tailwind and it was smooth sailing from there. Couldn't be prouder.

30 miles @ BCLC Ramble in Wilmot WI. I had intended to do 50 but had other thoughts after going solo into headwinds of what seemed like 20+ mph for over and hour. After deciding to cut it short, Mother Nature showed her disapproval. What was 85 and partly sunny went to 72 and heavy rains. I even felt some hail too... Thanks MN...

6/8 Was raining this morning so cancelled the ride from River Falls to St Paul - Stillwater - River Falls that was planned. It did dry out and even a little sun at noontime, so I went out to Hudson, crossed the St Croix into MN and down to where the Mississippi meets it and crossed back into WI at Prescott. Skies were getting dark so I stopped and put in the amber lenses and came straight back to River Falls, 51 miles total on the touring bike.

6/8 - did 32 miles at North Branch Trail. Found that trail is newly paved and in a very good shape. I hope they can do the same to Fox River & McHenry trails.

This weekend? No, not a mile. It was raining buckets Saturday morning - almost literally and for a really long time, about 4" in 6 hours. Some parts here got 10" of rain in 24 hours. Our only chance would have been paddle boat as most all my usual routes were covered with flood waters. Today was busy with claims (I'm insurance agent) and getting the lawn mowed before it rains again. Tomorrow will be big claims day, but will get out in the early am with careful eye for flood debris on the roads. Photo attached is an intersection I hit every morning - the yellow lines used to be the middle of the road, now off the road thanks to scouring by water - was about 4-5' deep here or more.

just got done drying off from Sunday

June 7-8 TOMRV 2008 -- Plan was to do 2 full century's. Due to the threats of bad weather, we decided to go with shorter route. 70 on Saturday.... then 46 (or an optional 66) on Sunday. I think we were just hoping we had good weather.

June 7th -- great day 70 miles. Sunny, hot, awesome ride. Started in Preston, IA and ended at Clarke College in Dubuque... great ride.

June 8th -- horrible day 46 miles, but I'm alive, good thing. 5 miles into the ride, the storm hit, and it didn't quit for another 46 miles. On hill tops with gusting winds and thunder and lightening strikes is not how I want to ride my bike!.... but we carried on. Farmer's and local's were picking up riders and giving them rides back to their cars some 30+ miles south, nice peeps. The boy and I biked the storm... not fun I was not happy and very scared at times... but we made it.

Here a few pics from Sat... when all was good

Starting out on Sat in Preston, IA

Somewhere near Preston, IA... crossing the Mississippi

Crossing the Mississippi again... this time in Wisconsin, going into Dubuque, IA

Bridge

That open grid decking on the Presron, IA bridge has to be interesting to ride across. We used to have a few of those type bridges here in Warren, Pennsylvania. They have been replaced with concrete bridges. Looks like a real nice ride!

6/10 No wind and in the 70's. Got home from work too late to make it to Hudson to ride with the Tuesday night group, so went out from home. 25 miles, felt fast on the road bike after riding the touring bike lately.
