HHH Training...........
has anyone started? are you just riding up and down the neighbor hill or what? i would love to hear what everyone is doing, or not doing. i just passed 500 miles for the season and finally feel like i might have some type of cycling for back. now i need to find me a hill to ride up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down......which is kind of hard to do in PLAINFIELD.
Check out the Profile and some Stats I pulled from MotionBased for the double.

Summary of Stats

My commute has a few steep climbs on it, but nothing longer than .2 miles. I am up to near 900 miles in a little less than 8 weeks of riding so far. 431 miles in the last 2 weeks alone.
I've actually been worried about over training.
We need a hilly ride on a short loop that we can ride 3-4 times one weekend. Any volunteers for the Chiburb area?

Sounds like you guys need another Starved Rock trip before the HHH

In St. Paul I have a plethora of small but steepish climbs along the Mississippi river (it's really a gorge at this point). I'm assuming it's gonna hurt, but figure I can get fairly close here. Little more concerned about sustained mountain climbs in MT later in fall. I couldn't find a 1500' climb to save my life anywhere within a few hours drive.

Head on over to Alpine Valley. Ride a few dozen laps on the Superweek loop:
https://www.routeslip.com/routes/4708
Or other roads in the area in and out of the river valley there. That ought to give
you legs like Oak Trees.

You guys should come up here for a ride, check out the June 3rd ride. https://www.bombaybicycle.org/index.htm
The Bombay rides are free just sign a release and ride. Parking may be an issue since the fair is here that weekend I think. My house is about 4 blocks for the park so anyone can park here and ride over.
I've been riding during the week pulling my younger son in the Burley on these hills:

https://www.toporoute.com/cgi-bin/get...QORBKBFYLHGVCG
So far I've got a little over 1200 miles in this year, doesn't feel like enough. The weather has not helped, too many cool mornings, can't freeze my son just to get some miles.

Will have to see if there is some time the Illinois crew can get up there, as it is a bit of a drive.

I rode it Sunday, once, I thought I was going to vomit. I got a a lot of work to do for the HHH
Here's the route again, you can park in Ridgefield (where Country Club, Hillside and Ridgefield Rds. meet)instead of down by the lake on CyLowe's map, it's much closer to the loop. Also, CyLowe's doesn't have the Cherry Valley Rd hill, that's another good one, better than the Oak Ridge Rd. hill.

I'm visiting my parents this weekend so I am out. They live about 10 miles from the east end of the HHH so I will probably do a little of the route while I am there.

I've ridden Stages 2, 3 and 4 so far. This weekend I think I might reacquaint myself with Mounds Park Road as I've got a new bike to break in. If I can't do the climb with a 50/36 and 12-27 cassette I plan on turning in my biking card for something else
I'll also be out riding the course the 2nd of June and 10th if people are going to be around. The 10th is one of the best BBC rides of the year in my opinion since it hits every major climb between Madison and Black Earth

Here's another one, a little closer to the State line - the MGA proving grounds course for Superweek (just ride the road portion).

Again, park along the road somewhere, or in Lyons (N. Rail street is nice).
Here's the elevation profile for that course, the big hills are on the SW corner of the loop. It's a winner too!

Wow- all you out-of-towners coming in for the HHH are starting to intimidate me! I've ridden the 100K route in stages and once in full and seem to be taking a much more casual approach to the whole event. I'll be the noob you all blow past early on. After doing the Dairyland Dare last year and what I've done this year I'm sure I can finish (thanks to a triple crank and 27tooth in the rear)- just not quickly.
Good luck to all of you!
