LBS in Chicago with knowledge of touringbikes?

All,
I am in the market for 2 touringbikes. Does anyone know of any LBS in Chicago that has an above knowledge of touringbikes and may even have some in stock? The only shops I found sofar with any knowledgeable people were Rapidtransit in Wicker Park and Turin in Evanston
I don't have a car so I am limited to go out to the 'burbs.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Bikes: Lots. Chapter2, Van Dessel, Giant, Trek, etc Dealers for BMC, Chapter2

Too bad about the 'burbs....Bicycles Etc. in Naperville has the Trek touring bike in stock. Don't think anyone there really knows much about touring, but it would give you a chance to look at it and ride one.

I haven't lived there for quite a while, but have you tried Cycle Smithy on north Clark Street? Lots of history and depth in that store.

i second that choice of Cycle Smithy on Clark St. they have one of the best bicycle mechanic in the country today, Earl, he has a lot of pride in his work that a lot of other shops just donot have and they can fit you for a bike and set it up however you want it for your comfort.
and always remember this quote,do you really know who,s working on your bike?

Thank
You

I have a trek 520 that I bought from Villagecyclesport last year. Pretty much any Trek dealer and most other bike stores will not hesitate to order you a touring bike from whatever brand they deal if you ask. Most stores will only have one or two in stock if you are lucky and probably not the size you need.

You refer to the Performance @ at Halsted and Diversey? I may take a look at that one.
