My most memorable bikes rides of 2007 (Detroit)
I just made a blog entry of my most memorable Michigan bike rides from last year. As it so happened, all but one of the rides occurred in Detroit. There are some photos linked to some of them as well. Some rides were just crazy long, some were nostalgic, and some were just touching.

For those not from the Detroit area, the Boblo boats (there were 2 of them) used to take passengers from Detroit to Boblo Island and back. Boblo Island was a big amusement park. The park was okay but the boat ride was perhaps the best part.
And if you've never done the Tour de Troit, I highly recommend it, but register early. It's somewhat unique in that the group stays together and the police motorcycle escort create a rolling road block. It's amazing just to watch the police block the roads while simultaneously herding cyclists.

Thanks, Randy. It was a good year.
Speaking of Detroit rides, the 2008 Detroit Synergy bike ride list is now on-line at https://www.detroitsynergy.org/projects/detroitbikes/
If you're expecting these to be quick, high-mileage rides, forget it. These are are casual as casual gets. Still, they're a lot of fun. One way to bump up the miles is to ride to the start and then back home afterwards.

Outstanding Report! I was on two of those rides - The Tour de Troit, and the Java Junket. I took my silver Raleigh three speed on the Java Trip.
I did a few other rides that I recommend - one is Hammy / Detroit to Plymouth. Michigan Ave to Hines Drive to Plymouth and back. It's 100 or so miles. Good Ride for the morning before traffic hits.
The second one is St. Ignace to Grand Marais. There's a brewery in Grand Marais which is a must do. That ride was 235 miles in two days. I would recommend a day of rest in between.
There's a brewery in Marshall, Michigan. A few of us are going to pedal there and back. That should be about 230 or so miles round trip.
I'm going to try to do most of the Synergy rides. Those are generally extremely casual and fun.

Thanks for the report! I especially loved reading about drinking smoothies in my old hometown of Highland Park. I defected to Lansing about 20 years ago, but I have many happy memories of the D and the HP.
