Thank goodness I'm not home. Is it mean for me to say that I'm currently sitting by a pool in Palm Springs, CA, sipping a fruity drink after spending a lovely day in the Living Desert and lunching outdoors in the gorgeous sunshine.
Ok....I shouldn't have said that!

Bare ground here in Joliet. Only got some flakes / sleet and some rain. That's all we got here so if you all in the north and nw burbs want to brave the cold this weekend, take a drive down towards Joliet or Channahon/Minooka area where we got no snow.

I feel for you guys in Milwaukee. Madison got off lightly, with only about 6". I could've ridden yesterday, but the doom-n-gloom weather forecasters were predicting the heaviest snow to happen in the early afternoon, and I would not have been able to get home. Turns out it wasn't so bad. So this morning I headed out on the winter beater with studded tires. There was a layer of ice pretty much everywhere, but it was easy riding as the plows had cleared everything. It felt like the first snow of winter.

If I could find a job in San Diego, I'd move as soon as possible. That's San Diego County, not necessarily the city.
Update, 8" or so of snow and the rugby game starts in 1.5 hours. It's going to suck.

Some of the best skiing of the year and it's March 22nd (easter weekend) who woulda thunk it possible. Now the sun is out and it's melting fast, ride before night fall?? Happy easter (or whatever you may celebrate) to all of you!! DAN

I see pupsocket is accepting the blame for all this misery, atleast now we know where to truck the snow that we have all shoveled!!

The skiing was 'okay' ... pretty soft, but lots of fun and a great workout. I did find groomed trails out at Lapham Peak State Park. My closest park was unreachable ... several cars already stuck in the parking lot including the snow plow that was supposed to clear it! If it re-freezes a few nights, that snow will firm up and we'll be rock'n again. I'll ski it down to mud ... plenty of time to ride this year yet.

I'm not that old but I am also retired. The sport was the most brutal...but the most fun too. I was a scrumhalf and played throughout the wing.

I retired last August. I decided I was too old to continue to play at a level I was happy with. The Bratfest is a 10's tournament that I enjoyed, so I decided early in the Spring that I would play in that tournament and then retire. But, this Spring, my team will be playing my old team. I will go on that trip and I will play in the B game. There is also the "old boys" game for my old team that I might play in, I won't play in the old boys game for my university though.
My avatar is the logo for my old team's old boys. It's hard to tell, but it is a crow holding a beer in one hand and a ball in the other.
Ah, wing. I have played that a couple of times. Boooorrrrring. I'd much rather be in the pack, scrumming down, rucking and mauling. Having fun and *****ing at backs for knocking on the ball after we fought hard to get that ball.
Back on Topic: The snow was deep. I was ok, but my right foot got wet and was very painful. I think this was because I rode my bike to the game and my cycling shoe is not very waterproof.

A friend of mine always said, "Spring in Michigan lasts only 2 days and it doesn't happen until late May." It's true that we usually go straight from snow storms to tornados, with no gentle rains in between.
